Rice: Iran Likely "Moving Toward a Nuclear Weapon"
As Iran presses ahead with its illicit nuclear program, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Thursday said that in order to avoid further international sanctions, the Islamic Republic must end its efforts to enrich uranium - a key step toward producing atomic arms, Agence France Presse reported. "What we can't have is Iran practicing enrichment... at the same time that we're in negotiations," Rice said. "There is no confidence about Iran's intentions here; they appear to be moving toward a nuclear weapon." Iran has rebuffed the U.N. Security Council's multiple demands to halt its uranium enrichment program and faces further sanctions if its non-compliance continues.
